Using BoM with Stock+
The Bill of Materials (BoM) module for Stock+ manages the picking and assembly of components using barcode scanning. This has three main benefits:
- Scanning barcodes ensures only the right components are picked for each assembly
- The right quantity are picked
- Keep accurate stock-levels in Sage

Build your BoM tables in Sage as normal. Then use the Stock+ handheld terminal to scan and pick the components.
The BoM picking handles both simple and complex builds i.e. those assemblies which consist of sub-assemblies. The system can be configured to pick only pre-built sub-assemblies, or to also pick the components for any sub-assemblies at the same time.

Another facility is to pick the BoM components at the same time as picking standard items on a Sales Order. This capability isn't available within Sage itself.
Consider an example... A plumber’s merchants may have a BoM created in Sage for a shower enclosure. This has 3 components; a shower tray, glass screen, and shower head unit. Whilst your customer order’s a "shower enclosure" (which is effectively one item on the sales order) it is 3 components that the warehouse picker is instructed to pick.
